Old Maid "TIME"

TIME

There are many different events that have shaped my personal aesthetic, but here are just a few. For my first event I chose “Bo Board” to represent the summer I spent going to school in Galveston for Marine Biology. I chose a surfboard to represent my realization that I enjoyed surfing every morning much more than going to class. “Dr. Spray” represents my first trip to LA where I saw street art for the first time, it opened my eyes to the medium and it’s potential. “Tiger Boy” represents my time as a kid when I designed costumes commissioned by my local Halloween storeowner. I wore that costume for days. “Scratch String” represents the day my dad bought my graduation present, my guitar, it helped me tap into music and art. “Boooze” represents my 21st birthday, alcohol allowed me to let go and think more creatively.
Here are five people who have influenced my creativity as an artist. “Matt Bro” represents my brother who I collaborate with weekly on new projects, and is a strong family supporter and believer in my art. ”Seth McFarlane” represents Seth McFarlane, his work through Family Guy shaped my artistic style in cartooning and character resemblance. “John Mayer” helps me daily through his music bringing out the soul and blues in me. “Jack Johnson” brings out the calmness and island-feel to my art. “Tim Burton” helped shape my style from watching Nightmare Before Christmas countless times as a kid, bringing out the creepy side of my style.
For my five inanimate objects I chose a few things that really help me stick to relate ability and quirkiness. “Harmon” is my blues harmonica that sits on my desk, it reminds me of my dad and his country/50’s style taste in cars and music. “Tiki” is my wooden sculpture, I bought him when I moved into my first apartment, and he reminds me of my brother Rick who is obsessed with the ocean and surfing.  “Speak Easy” represents my old record speakers that my dad gave me to repair in middle school, he let me have them when I was done. “Clocky” represents a small Bob Marley clock my buddy gave to me after being it London, it’s just a random gift and I think it looks cool. “Geoff” is my grandma’s giraffe statue that she gave to me when she moved to town, I played on it when I was really little and she promised it to me if she ever decided to give it away.
My ten activities to stimulate creativity are as follows. “Food” when I get burnt out on projects I cook a meal and it takes my mind off of things. “Crack” represents eating peanuts for energy when I get bored and tired of doing homework. “Booger” represents me picking my nose when boredom overtakes my willingness to proceed in finishing a task. “Coffee” represents my unquenchable thirst for more energy and concentration when working on projects. “Buddies” are my headphones that I listen to while creating my art pieces. “Timmy” represents watching a movie to stimulate and inspire me.  “Hamy Z” is my hammock where I rest and reflect looking out of my back porch. “Boxie” is my orange Honda Element, I am in pure R mode when driving, it’s the best for creative stimulation. “Brushy” represents brushing my teeth, it’s a nervous habit when I cannot get my ideas out on paper. “Book” is when all else fails, I read a book to ease my mind.
And last but not least there’s “TIME”, my archenemy. As I grow older, the faster time seems to slip by me. I seem to always do things at the last minute, and it is time that I will one day conquer, or it will defeat me.
